Just A Little Update.

I've been really overthinking a post lately, feeling this invisible pressure to put something amazing in words for people to carefully consider. And then today it hit me. How about just update everyone on life as of late? Not that it's terribly interesting by any means- but I've felt like I've written so many individual emails lately with practically the same information- so why not just put it in one place?

After my post about being content, a lot of little tests came my way and it would be a lie to say that I've passed every one of them with flying colors. And as of late, I just feel completely overwhelmed with life.

I'm not the type of person who enjoys being busy. I don't like to have plans after work and having full weekends and being put out of my comfort zone.

For example, over the last few weeks there have been vet appointments. I really despise taking the cats, specifically 007, to the vet alone. Especially when it's a new office. I tend to think of every possible outcome (usually the worst ones, let's be honest here...)- and let's just say, every. single.one. occurred during 007's appointment.
Poop, vomit, aggressive staff, a stressed cat, a last minute messy bath, and hyperthyroidism results.
(Moneypenny was an angel and was complimented endlessly on how sweet and soft she is. That's my girl!)

On that note, having my favorite pet losing weight rapidly before my eyes, constantly crying to be fed, and vomiting sometimes daily...is the epitome of heartbreak for me. Most of you know my heart for animals- but for my boy, it's the biggest. We always describe him as a "comfort cat"- he could definitely go into a any facility and snuggle with patients and residents, making them instantly happier. Thinking of losing him any sooner than never, is just the worst. So these recent vet appointments have been awful for me to handle alone, because Kyle works opposite hours than what the veterinary offices are open.
Lots of nights of sobbing myself to sleep have happened.
Although, I *am* doing a little better in this area.
I'm trying.

Most of you know that my employers will be moving to Toronto this coming September. They've graciously offered me unemployment, should I need it, and that was completely kind and unexpected. In the beginning, I wasn't worried at all and maybe even slightly excited for a new adventure. But as the days pass and September approaches, I can feel my blood pressure rising as I wait...and wait...and wait to hear back from jobs that I've applied to.
I've had one interview so far, and it was anything but wonderful. Although I was disappointed that I didn't connect with the family, I was more proud of myself for feeling confident that there is something better out there for me.
I think I'm a fairly desirable option, with 7 years experience that includes 3 different families and 5 newborns. But, as I sit here, I've emailed probably 20 families and have only heard back from 1 or 2.
It really does a number on ya.
Makes you question and doubt.
K keeps confirming that he wants me to find the perfect position, one that I'll really enjoy, and if it takes 6 months- that's just fine!
Secretly, I'd like a few week break in-between one job ending and another beginning- but I definitely don't want to be sitting around for 6 months, either.

Besides finding a new position, I'm feeling lots of mixed emotions. These kids, I've been a 3rd parent to. I've seen some firsts, watched them learn to take a bottle, roll over, walk and talk. I've spent uncountable hours helping them use a toilet, cuddling them while they're sick, watching them climb all over a playground proudly, attend new schools, and let's be real....handed out a ridiculous amount of timeouts.
But at the same time, while I know I'll cry like a baby and miss sweet moments, I'm feeling...ready for something new. Hopeful of a bright future with a new family.

While these things...pet problems and work changes, barely skim the surface of my stress levels lately- I am starting to feel majorly excited for upcoming trips this September.

We found some awesomely priced plane tickets to Chicago, one of my favorite cities, and we'll be able to spend 2 days there for a quick Anniversary getaway. I cannot wait to try foods, sit in cute coffee shops, meander around Navy Pier, and soak in the nighttime city lights with my Babe.

Later in September, we'll be taking a week long trip to Nebraska to visit some very close friends of our's. We're absolutely thrilled. There will be lots of eating, laughing, good conversations, and just very much needed "away" time.

I think this is basically it, everyone.
My exciting life update.

The Weekend has Ended.

Buh.
Weekends go by so quickly- yet, I can't say that my weekends are terribly fantastical anyway.
My Husband works 15 hours every Saturday- luckily that all ends in January and I'll have lots of fabulous Day Trips to blog about!
This weekend consisted of :
Wearing a { new sweater }, that I love!
I even received a compliment while I was out & about :)
Finished a book that I can easily recommend to anyone who has  the slightest of dry humors. It's called "Penelope" by Rebecca Harrington.
It's definitely one of those that makes you laugh out loud.
And of course, cuddling with one of our Furries, 007.
He thinks I'm his personal pillow.
I'm okay with this- because I feel the same about him :)
Facebook.
Do you have a Facebook page set up for your blog?
I've been debating it for awhile- but can't decide if it's worth it?
Or even, what the point is?
Someone explain this to me!

Squirm

Hey Friends.
I typically tend to keep things light on my blog.  I feel like when I intend on browsing blogs, I want to see things that inspire me and make me happy.

So today, I'm switching it up just a bit & hoping to inspire you in a way other than through food, coffee, and pictures. :)

I would say THE biggest passion I have, that brings out the most emotion for me, is that of caring for & protecting animals.

007's "Catbook" profile pic :)

On Facebook, people are constantly sharing causes and trying to spread the word. I totally agree that this can be overwhelming & sometimes uncomfortable- specifically with some of the pictures that are used. But, I also support the reason why these posts are spread.

I'm not going to post pictures to make you aware, but instead I wanted to ask if you knew that...

In other Countries- people are using dogs as live shark bait.
Animals are being dragged behind vehicles.
Animals are being tied up & tortured.
They are left wandering the streets while they're "owners" go on vacations.
Around here, people are even tying dogs to train tracks & tying dogs up to fences until someone hopefully saves them.

Those aren't comforting facts, right?
But the reason I'm sharing is because...they are facts.  And even if they weren't. I'd hope that you'd be brave enough & strong enough to speak up for these animals. Whether it's on Facebook, donating or joining a cause.
People may squirm or be a little uncomfortable at first, but they'll get over it. And you might of saved an animal's life.

If you've made it to the end of this post, you're amazing! :)

Hair There, Everywhere

I have naturally curly hair & find that products that generally work on "normal" hairs, don't usually work on mine.
I recently purchased some organic Argan Oil Shampoo- I was so excited because I know that Argan Oil is so good for your skin/hair.  But in this case, it makes my hair incredibly dry & hard to brush. Not gonna lie here, I enjoy natural products as much as the next person- but I also like my hair to be soft & good smelling!

I'd love to hear what you're favorite shampoos/conditions or styling products are.  I change my products every few Months.

Just some examples how awesome my hair was :) Since, I've gotten into professional straightening- although I haven't done it in months and my hair is...a fro. For sure.

If you think of it, say a little prayer for 007. He's had a rough day. We took him to the emergency vet office & they had to put him in an oxygen box. He's doing a little better, but weak & scared. Po' babe.

Wonderful.

Have a good weekend everyone?

I spent a good amount of time catching glimpses of the Olympics (Go USA!), cuddling with fur babes (as usual!), and spending much needed time with my Husband.

We're also working on making some fairly large changes in our lives. Re-prioritizing and getting where we want to be at this point in our lives. I'm super nervous & also very excited. If you think of it, I'd love it if you'd say a little prayer that we allow Christ to lead the way, fully. (So hard sometimes, right?!)

Here are some favorite recent instagrams. (Follow me @ ajsven)

*Trying out my new Julep polishes together, Yumi & Lynn.
*Snuggles with 007
*A Healthy Snack, Almonds
*A quick photo before heading out on a drive with Hubs
*Hubs needed to break a $20, so he bought flowers- I'll take it! :)
*More, beautiful Summer flowers.

And this is one of my favorites:
Hubs & I about to enjoy a Starbucks brunch- and I caught Kyle mid prayer.  And yes, he was praying silently to himself. I wasn't peeking ;)

It's an incredible example to me of Christ's love. That He's given me a Husband that I often feel so un-deserving of. But not only that, I'm so thankful for a Husband who strives to lead our Marriage, God's way.

Stormy Weather

Have a good weekend?
I did- although it was super busy.
I spent the entire weekend...with a toddler.
We built a tent, read books inside the tent-while playing with glow sticks. We went to the Hartford Science Center and had a messy ice cream cone.

It was a good time- but I'm loving being back in my own house with my cuddly fur babes. :)

Next item of business: The Bachelorette!

Best ending, ever?
I was really rooting for Jef towards the end of the show because while it initially took me awhile to picture their two personalities together- He just *seems* so...down to earth, hilarious, and sweet.
And then to see them together, they just seemed so happy & confident. I really hope the can keep it together.

Storms.
Am I really the only person 'out there' that doesn't like thunder?  I could sit in a puddle amidst the rain, no problem, but thunder? No! Come on! It's loud. It seems unnatural to me. Ha!
I realize it's one of those most natural things. But the whole like...shaking the ground, making me pee my pants thing...totally doesn't appeal to me.
We're currently under a two-day Thunder Storm watch. Who wants to switch places?!?!

Me. Not enjoying loudness.

Tid Bits

A few things from the weekend.

Well, as you know, it was Father's Day.  007 & Moneypenny (The Cats) got Kyle a Father's Day card.  They were very proud. :)

I tried a new (cheap!) wine that I've been wanting to try for some time, Cupcake.  If you're at all like me- I like my wines sweet.  So this, being sparkling, is SO good.  My new fave.

I love candles- I bought a small candle from Target & adore it. Makes me happy :)  It's Sweet Spun Sugar.  Divine! It's lit right this second & I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to buy a few more this week!

When my Mom visited two weeks ago (already?!) she bought me a cute pair of earrings from the Tickled Pink Shoppe- and they're my constants. They go with everything!

Hope you had a lovely weekend!

Morning Elegance

Although I hate waking up early- once I've got myself around and un-zombie-like, I thoroughly enjoy the Morning itself.
The birds chirping always make me happy.  They seem cheerful and it's an announcement that I've made it to another day of life.
My favorite breakfast as of late has been a fruit-yogurt-granola mix with a 100 cal. Starbucks Frappuccino.  Pure deliciousness.

I love when our bedroom door opens, in runs Moneypenny meowing anxiously as she hopes for a little morning love.  007 usually assumes the "guard" position outside our door until we refill his food dish. :)

One of my favorite songs is called "Her Morning Elegance" by Oren Lavie.  I'm going to end this post with the music video for your listening pleasure :)

Until next time, find something you *do* enjoy about the Morning.

YES, to Tomatoes...and Kitties

Anyone else try the "Yes to..." products?
I've found that the tomato products are my favorite so far.  The face mask especially minimizes my pores and smooths my skin- plus, it smells so good!

 Good morning!  (It's true...I don't wake up looking like I didn't sleep...ha!)

Even Moneypenny thinks it smells wonderous :)

I'm not the type of makeup fanatic who purposely researches new products that are coming out and what's "in"- Basically, I go to the store, find makeup that looks amazing, buy it & try it.  On ocassion I'll see something reviewed in a magazine and try it. (I especially love anything fruit and veggie for some reason. It makes me think "pure", "fresh", "soft".)

I found these new Maybelline items and immediately snatched them up.  So far, the "airfoam" foundation is heavenly.  To me, foundation should be all about looking natural. It shouldn't be a 10 layer cake.
This foundation literally feels like...air.  I put it on and didn't feel a thing.  Try it out!
The "Bouncy" blush has also been awesome- but I can't say it's better than anything else I've tried.

In closing, I will allow you to dote over my precious fur babies. :)

007 hates photo shoots. Obviously.  But he is the biggest mush of a cat you'll ever encounter.

Monepenny is the opposite. She is a fantastic model and only cuddles when she needs it.

Until next time, go rub some tomatoes on your face! :)

The Parking Spot

Happy Weekend Everyone!

I don't know about you but I adore my weekends. I rarely have any "big" plans- but I love lounging, watching chick flicks, and treating myself to my favorite food & drink.  It also means that I get an entire Day (Sunday) with my Hubs.
I also admittedly love the extra cuddle time with my fur babies. :)

New obsession:  Kitty Whiskers

Moneypenny playing with a cord

Anyone who lives in an apartment complex or on a campus may understand my next frustration.
The coveted parking spot.
Every Winter- those who park "on street" have to either park on the odd side or the even side- depending on what the arrangement was the year before. This year, we're parking on the odd side. Which in and of itself is frustrating. We have to park across the Street from our home. And thankfully, since Winter has decided to pretty much not show up- We haven't had to deal with walking across an icy street to get to where we live.
However:  The Woman who lives across the Street has decided that she needs to park in front of her house- instead of in her garage.  Which brings me to my curent dilema. With her parking in front of her house- instead of behind, there is not enough parking for both my car and Kyle's. Most often, being that Kyle gets home later than me- He has to park three houses down- on the opposite side of the Street.
I've been trying not to hold a grudge over something so silly. I've been trying to bite my tongue and not say anything to her- and I've been trying to not be a pest and purposely park right in front of her house- leaving her no room to park.  I'll admit, I've failed a couple of times at the whole...not parking infront of her house thing.
I'm dying to say something to her like, "Hey. Don't you have a garage?"
She seems frustrated that we are parking infront of her house- as if we have a choice!
Le sigh.
But as a Christian- I'm trying to be the bigger person. Trying. Trying. Trying.
That rant/vent/ramble/complaint is over. Thanks for reading.
I feel a bit better now.

Anyone else run into a situation like that? How did you handle it?

Onto a whole new topic: Shampoo.
I love discovering new shampoo/conditioner duos. It makes me happy when my hair smells delicious after a shower.
Typically I use Pantene or Dove, but recently discovered that the new Duo by "Burt's Bees" is heavenly.
Anyone else try it?  You should !

Until next time, grab that parking spot & shampoo your hair!
